If you recently moved to Florida or just purchased a used or new vehicle, you will need to complete a vehicle title transfer.

While there are red tape instances with each situation, the overall process is fairly simple and straight forward. It may seem overwhelming but when you have the right staff to assist you in completing the Florida title transfer the process will be quick and painless.

How to Transfer a Car Title in Florida with Broward Tag and Title


A private sale, purchase, or moving a vehicle into the state of Florida will require the buyer to handle this process in person at our Broward Tag and Title location. For those just moving to the state and needing to transfer the title of their vehicle to register it in Florida, the following steps also apply. When coming into our offices for a Title Transfer you will need to bring some of the following documents. Remember that no title transfer is ever exactly the same so you may need additional documents or forms depending on your specific situation or transfer.

Certificate of Title – If the previous owner has the paper copy of the title, they can simply fill out the section “Transferring Title by Seller” and hand to the buyer who will also sign the title. If the previous owner does not have the paper copy, then a duplicate can be obtained by the seller beforehand. This service can be completed in person at our Tag Agency location.

Valid Drivers License – To register a vehicle you will need to have a valid Drivers License. This license does not necessarily have to be a Florida Drivers License and can be from any of the continental United States.

Proof of Florida Insurance – To register the vehicle you will also need to provide us with valid Florida Insurance for the vehicle. This insurance policy must be underwritten by a Florida Insurance Agency.

How to Complete an Out Of State Title Transfer with Broward Tag and Title.


If you are just moving to Florida and need to register your vehicle or vehicles in the state then this article is for you. Broward Tag and Title handles the entire transfer from start to finish. Moving into a new state can be hectic and full of obstacles. Transferring your vehicle is just another one of those obstacles. To register your out of state vehicle in Florida you will need to come into our agency with all of the below information.

Certificate of Title – If the previous owner has the paper copy of the title, they can simply fill out the section “Transferring Title by Seller” and hand to the buyer who will also sign the title. If you already own the vehicle then the Title will be in your name. We will need the original Title to complete the out of state title transfer.

Proof of Florida Insurance – To register the vehicle you will also need to provide us with valid Florida Insurance for the vehicle. This insurance will not be accepted in Florida and will need to be transferred to a Florida Agent.

Loan Documents (if applicable) – If the vehicle currently has a loan on it then we will have to request the title from the current lender institution. Please make sure to have either your loan documents or lien holder information available for us to note.

Lien Satisfaction letter (if applicable) – If you have the paper title to the vehicle but the lien holder information is still noted on the title we will need a letter from the lien holder stating the loan has been paid and the lien has been satisfied.

Lease Agreement (if applicable) – If you are moving into Florida and you have a leased vehicle we will need the lease agreement in replacement of the title. As a lease you will not have the title to the vehicle as you are not the registered owner.
